India Beats Australia In Adelaide ODI In A Thriller
57India Beats Australia In Adelaide ODI In A Thriller
Tense Moments For Australia For The First Time In This Series
The Indian fans finally deserved the treat what they were looking for nearly 2 and half months. Michael Clarke has finally found some intense moments on the field through the last 2 encounters. That is a very good sign considering the future of the tri series because of their domination over the other teams right through this summer particularly against India. The Australians were simply magnificent on this entire summer, but even this Australian team can be defeated was finally shown to the World by the World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni who is always a cool customer.
India’s First Victory Over Australia In Adelaide
This is India’s 1st ever victory against Australia in a One day match in Adelaide. So the Midas touch, which has been missing quite a while for MS Dhoni has been finally regained. The Indians looked extremely better on the field today. It was quite an amazing performance from India. The likes of the youngsters in Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina looked particularly impressive. I hope these young guns will fire for sure in the ongoing series as well. They stopped nearly 25-30 crucial runs. Had Australia scored those runs on a flat pitch where there was no assistance for the bowlers, India could have landed in deep trouble. Finally due to the superlative efforts of batting and fielding at various stages, India won 2 consecutive matches on the trot. This makes the World Champions so special.
Dhoni A Bold Captain
There was fuss about today’s match among the media right from yesterday night, whether Star Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar will play or not. However in today’s newspaper, they have clearly indicated that there will probably be no changes among the Indian side. But Dhoni had the final say. “If the rotation policy is there to be followed for senior players such as Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, Why can’t the rotation policy followed for Sachin?” This is what Dhoni confessed at the toss today. The good thing about India was they won this match without the services of its iconic star batsman Sachin. Once there was a saying that If Sachin’s wicket is lost, every Indian player gives up the game like anything once upon a time. But this present Indian team is full of energy with youngsters occupying the core of the middle order group. And then you have a calm captain who is there to guide these youngsters always. So this team is probably the tough Indian team to be beat in the future, if they show the energy and the enthusiasm which they displayed on the field toady.
Gambhir The Catalyst For India
Aussies, despite their fighting attitude today, lost mainly because of 2 reasons. The first reason is they fell short of suns by 20-25 odd. Finally they were let down by their fast bowlers who bowled their hearts out right through out the test series. The likes of Ryan Harris, Mitchell Starc and Clint Mc Kay conceded not less than 5 runs per over which was nearly close to the asking rate. I once remember the statement uttered by Sri Lanka’s wicket keeper batsman and former captain Kumar Sangakkara that “If the present Indian team has to be defeated then you have to score above 350 runs or else take wickets at regular intervals. Australian team failed to take wickets today. India had regular partnerships and as expected Gautam Gambhir was the catalyst over there.
Comparison Of This Match With The World Cup Final
The score card looked very similar to that of the 2011 World Cup final run chase. India had to chase down the target of 275 set by Sri Lanka in a World Cup final. Here in this match chased down 270. In both the situations if we compare, we can observe one fact. Gautam Gambhir was the catalyst of run scoring in both these matches. He scored a match winning 97 of 122 balls against Sri Lanka in a World Cup final held at Wankhede Stadium. Here today he scored yet another useful 92 runs in 111 balls. In the World Cup final, Dhoni bludgeoned paceman Nuwan Kulasekara for a thunderous six to bring emotional moments amongst the crowd and today, he sealed the contest almost with a thunderstorm that sailed out of the park. A 114 meters captain special indicates how long a mile it would have gone.
Young Guns Powers India To Victory
In the Indian run chase today, there were much improved performances than compared to the previous encounters. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir provided the start initially that India were desperately looking for right through out the series. Virat and Gautam tried to capitalize on the opening start but Virat tasted an unusual failure today. However, things didn’t bother too much for Rohit Sharma. He kept his faith shown by his captain and gave Gautam the company which was important for India’s cause at that point of time. The two milked away easy singles and just when the partnership was looking to set fireworks ablaze, Rohit was soon consumed and was sent back. Gautam didn’t last long. But the Indian hopes never jeopardized and the revival came back through a 65 odd runs partnership between an entertaining Suresh Raina and a calm MS Dhoni. This partnership brought India right back into this match. Raina looked in a hurry to finish things off in style and lost his wicket. He was soon followed by Ravindra Jadeja. But the Indian hopes never dashed as we had a calm MS Dhoni battling it out for India. 13 runs in last over is more than a tedious task for anyone in the World except for MS Dhoni. He has done it for many times for his country. Today yet again he demonstrated why he was rated as World’s best finisher of the cricket ball. He powered Australia’s strike bowler Clint Mc Kay for a thunderstorm. That traveled miles out of the park. Such was the incredible timing of that shot. It almost sealed the contest and turned the match in India’s favour. Mc Kay feared bowing to Dhoni and the fact proved in his next ball which was a no ball and the game was India’s. Salute the captain MS Dhoni for his incredible hitting and the Indian fans wish to watch many more captains’ knock from this incredible talent. I remember Dhoni finish off the formalities when 18 runs were needed off the final over which was bowled by Irfan Pathan in an IPL encounter against the Kings XI Punjab at Dharmasala. That was a crucial match for the defending champion Chennai Super Kings and Dhoni battled hard and turned the game in the favour of Chennai.
India Are Right Back Into This Contest
Now finally India needs to take this confidence ahead in their games to come. Right now, they are on their way to retain the title which they carried home 4 years ago. That was the time when MS Dhoni captained his side for the first time in an overseas tri series. From there on, Dhoni captured incredible titles for his country. For a little while now, those days have been viewed as joyous days and currently India were in a position of dilemma about their own bench strength that whether it can win any more matches on overseas soil or not. Finally, it was turned down by the captain. India is right back into the contest and I hope there are no tough days ahead for this magnificent team.
